The Short Story
The Short Story
There was a place deep within the forest where the path was never the mystery. The destination was. The moment anyone entered beneath the trees, they forgot where they had been told to go. Most who entered wandered for hours before finding their way back out. A few were never seen again.
But every so often, someone emerged with a story of a small wooden cabin hidden among the trees. They all described the same warm fire, the same bubbling cauldron, and the same woman who somehow knew everything about them.
Yet when asked how to find her, none of them could remember. Hidden within that forest lived a witch unlike any other. She was known for her honesty, for guiding lost travelers onto the right path, and for revealing truths they had long forgotten. She knew the dreams they had abandoned. She knew who they could become.
The moment someone stepped through her door, she saw every choice they had ever made... and every path that still lay ahead. No one could lie to her. No one could deceive her. Yet she never revealed exactly what the future held.
Instead, she brewed a potion unique to each traveler, not to change their destiny, but to give them the courage to become the person they were always meant to be.
The witch believed the world survived because of balance. Every life. Every choice. Every dream.
So while others searched for power, immortality, or forbidden relics, the witch remained in her hidden cabin, quietly protecting the balance she alone could see.
