I walked inside, hearing only my footsteps. All the memories came rushing back. The last time I had been here, I was a teenager. The smell of popcorn. The ringing bells. The flashing lights. Back then, this place felt enormous. Now it looked so much smaller. I stood alone in the middle of the abandoned arcade.

Back in the 1980s, every Friday and Saturday night ended here. My friends and I spent hours chasing high scores and feeding quarters into the machines. Then life happened. Right after high school, I got a job at the warehouse. I rode my bike, or sometimes my skateboard to work every day, saving every paycheck in hopes of buying my first car. Each evening, my ride home took me through the old mall parking lot. The mall had been abandoned for years. Every store was empty. Every entrance was boarded up. Every light had gone dark. Until one Friday night. As I rode past the old arcade, I noticed a faint light glowing through the dusty windows. Curious, I stopped and looked inside.

In the far back corner, one machine was still on. My favorite pinball game. Everything else was dark. I stood there for a minute, wondering if someone had bought the place and was planning to reopen it. Eventually, I shrugged it off and rode home. But that night... I dreamed about the machine. The silver ball rolled across the playfield by itself. The lights flashed. The bells rang. Then the machine stopped. The arcade fell silent. A voice whispered... "Your game isn't over."

The next morning, for reasons I couldn't explain, there was only one thing on my mind. I had to get back inside that arcade.
